چکیده
A vertebral compression fracture (VCF) is a pathological condition, which can be caused by osteoporotic degeneration or metastatic disease. It represents socioeconomic burden on healthcare systems, due to increased pain, long-term morbidity, and disability. Vertebroplasty (VP) an image-guided, minimally invasive, interventional procedure, in bone cement injected via percutaneous approach into the soma, provide structural support stabilize weakened structure. The aim of this narrative review describe column biomechanics, as well indications, contraindications, techniques successfully perform VP for treatment VCFs. Methods: We performed literature main online databases regarding VP, mainly focused patient selection, preoperative imaging, procedural steps, complications, outcomes. Results: most recent evidence has shown that provides significant sustained clinical benefits patients with VCF, it indicated comorbidities make prolonged bed rest dangerous, fractures fail heal, palliation painful VCF Conclusions: considered safe effective option malignant VCFs are resistant adequate medical therapy. Patient preprocedural evaluation, proper technique execution key points obtain best outcomes minimize complications.

One hundred and fifty-six patients with 263 compression fractures and suffering from disabling back pain refractory to analgesic therapy were treated and included in this study. The age of the subjects ranged from 42 to 94 years (mean age: 72.8), and medical treatment period ranged from one to twelve months. The technique involves the percutaneous puncture of the involved vertebra via a transpe...

Background: Osteoporotic compression vertebral fractures are common clinical problems. In those with refractory fractures, percutaneous cement augmentation has been suggested. The aim of this study was to evaluate the functional outcome of percutaneous vertebroplasty in Iranian patients with refractory osteoporotic fractures. Methods: We retrospectively studied 37 osteoporotic fractures in 28 p...

Incidence of vertebral compression fractures (VCFs) is increasing due to the increase in human life expectancy and prevalence of osteoporosis. Percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) has become a widely used alternative treatment for symptomatic VCFs refractory to medical therapy. It is a minimally invasive technique involving injection most frequently of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) directly into t...
